Kyle's Dentist Appointment

Kyle has always been really scared of anything that has even the slightest little bit to do with anything medical.  And with good reason.....almost every single medical thing that he has ever been exposed to has been something scary dealing with his daddy 'a poor health.  And he knows that ultimately in the end his daddy died.  I'm just not quite sure how he connects it all.  

So just as I expected, when I told him that he would be going to the dentist, he kinda freaked out a little.  His biggest fear was that it would hurt.  So this past week was spent reassuring him that the dentist is very gentle, and super nice!  

Today when it was time for his appointment, I could tell that he was really nervous, but he was putting on a brave face, and trying really hard not to show his fear.  :)

The first thing he did was have a panoramic X-ray taken.  When the girl put the vest on him, she warned mad him that it would be a little heavy.  She started cracking up though when he told her not to wory, he was strong enough to handle it because he works out.   :)

Then he got to just lay back, watch TV and relax while he waited for the dentist.  

When the dentist came in, Kyle was immediately put at ease.  It turns out that he plays the same video game that Kyle loves, and I think they talked more about boy stuff than they did about teeth lol.  

As it turns out, the dentist is really happy that Kyle's teeth are taking so long.  He says it means there's less time for them to decay. And as for the placement of them, he says there is a good chance that his tongue will eventually push them into place.  

Then Kyle got to see the picture of his teeth.  He and the dentist decided that it was the perfect Halloween picture, so Kyle got to keep a copy of it.  :)

Kyle also got to pick something out if the treasure box, which made him even more excited to be there.  :). 

In the end, he decided that he really likes it there, and that makes me a very happy mommy!  :)
